THE INDIA RUN

Six years ago, I was told I’d be lucky to see forty. A Brain Tumour Diagnosis at the age of 25. That kind of news has a way of changing everything — not just the years you imagine ahead, but the way you measure each day. A terminal diagnosis can make life feel small, as though possibility has been stolen away. But I came to realise the opposite: that the measure of a life is not how long it lasts, but what we choose to do with it.
 
This run — 4,000 kilometres from the northern tip of India in the mountains of Ladakh to the southern tip of India in Kanuakumari — is my way of answering that truth. Fifty kilometres a day, eighty days. It is not simply about crossing a country, but about showing that even in the shadow of illness, there can be light. That what looks like an ending can become a beginning.
 
India is the place that first taught me this. Years ago, when I was lost in grief and fear, I came here and discovered practices that helped me breathe again: yoga, meditation, breathwork, gratitude, stillness. It was here that I learned suffering can be transformed, that pain can point toward something greater if you let it. Now I return to the same country with a deeper purpose — to run through its villages, its cities, its landscapes, carrying with me not just my own story but a message that life, even when fragile, can be expansive, brave, and full.
 
The mission is to turn one man’s diagnosis into a movement of resilience and hope. Along the way I want to remind people that adversity does not need to be a full stop; it can be a comma, a pause before the next sentence begins. We cannot always control what happens to us, but we can control the way we respond. And in that choice lies transformation.
 
This run is about more than endurance. It is about celebrating that a terminal illness is not only a story of decline, but also a story of possibility. And it is about honouring India itself — its cultures, its colours, its people — as the backdrop for one of the most ambitious tests of human spirit ever attempted.
 
When I reach the southern tip, it won’t be about how far I’ve run, but about what’s possible when we refuse to give up — that strength, hope, and resilience can carry us further than we ever believed.
